While dancing with the intention to feed our inner artists, an interesting dialogue started to emerge inside and between us. The one dancing and the one being projected as a shadow.
Both important, both present, both involved in the same dance.
From the Jungian perspective, the shadow can include everything outside the light of consciousness and may be positive or negative. He said that "Everyone carries a shadow and the less it is embodied in the individual's conscious life, the blacker and denser it is."
We noticed how the Shadow is mainly perceived from the psychological perspective, but not so much from the perspective of the body. Our experiences while dancing reminded us, that the shadow is not only an aspect of the psyche but also, it's reflected in the body and therefore an aspect of the body-mind.
Affecting our psychological, behavioral, self-protective functioning as much as our posture, pain, tensions.
Through the light of consciousness, we make our shadow visible. We cast it. So bringing awareness into our movement, we make it more accessible to be noticed, felt, and expressed and therefore integrated.
We called this "research" A shadow project. Playing with the shadow, wit the light and everything in between.
